Head of Engineering

The Product team at Almug builds products and automation solutions for our clients in the capital markets space. We are constantly adding new methods of extracting, analysing and displaying our datasets, while still appreciating the time and effort it takes to build a system that will scale.

The persona for this role is someone who built a beautiful SaaS product from the ground up - all layers. You have both a sense of design and great code. You are the type of person who just thrives on work. You also love helping the company grow and participate in this a number of different ways including: Making the impossible possible, recruiting, and being able to jump in and solve problems as needed, even if not on the project you are working on. Responsibilities:

In this role, you’ll be responsible for managing the team overseeing the design, development and operations of large-scale, real-time data systems. The ideal candidate will be excited by the prospect of owning, optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture and building out a team to support our next generation of products and data initiatives. Your Data Engineering team will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts, data scientists, and machine learning engineers on back-end data initiatives.

Both be able to work as an Individual contributor as well as collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders from Design, Product, Data, and Engineering in order to deliver against highly aggressive delivery timelines.

Tech Requirements:

• 7-15 Years of professional experience with at least 2 years’ experience in a hands on Solution Architect role.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Continuous Integration, Continuous Delivery, Pair programming and Test Driven Development.
• Understanding of the trade-offs between different big data solutions
• Strong analytic skills related to working with unstructured datasets
• Experience with a variety of traditional, streaming, and big data tools such as:
• Kafka, Sqoop, Flume
• Airflow or other workflow scheduler
• Data Warehouses: Redshift, Snowflake (preferred)
• SQL databases, including MySQL, Postgres
• Stream-processing systems: Storm or Spark-Streaming or equivalent.
• Advanced Python, Java and/or Scala , SQL
• Experience in developing crawlers, fetchers and html parsers
• Experience with Elastic Search or a like technology is highly desirable
• Graph Databases: Neo4J
• Software management tools such as Git, JIRA
• Language agnostic: Code polyglot able to take up any language and technology without pain.
• Strong product intuition and business analysis abilities.
